A Pair of Arrests Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
